Dr Wood will present a paper entitled ‘Linking community festivals to social change: Trial and tribulation’ (written with colleague Professor Rhodri Thomas and Ben Smith from the Shoreditch Trust, London) at the summit hosted by Griffith University at Surfer's Paradise, Australia, 9-7th July 2009.   She will explain to delegates the lessons and challenges faced when seeking to evaluate the impact of festivals designed to influence social change.  The paper draws on the experience of a project funded by the Shoreditch Trust, London.

  

Paul Gudgin, Visiting Professor at UKCEM, will also present a paper on festival management, drawing on his experiences as Director of the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh.
